Circle of Life

Represented by the curling leaf or bud of a fern, the Koru is a symbol for growth, peace, and the search for knowledge.  When enclosed by the circle of life, the Koru means spiritual growth and renewal. This design expands on the idea of the circle of life by incorporating the element of water. Notice the wave forms carved into the surface of this piece. The ocean is a sacred place for my people and is often attributed with healing energy.

Like most of my carvings, this design is carved in the round and can be worn with either side facing out. The "fossil" walrus ivory of this piece displays a smooth cream and brown color on one side, and a rich creamy tapioca effect on the other.
