The Manaia, usually shown as a stylized bird, is regarded as a spiritual guardian. This contemporary interpretation of two Manaias represents the flight of the soul through life and beyond. Each of the Manaias (one facing down, and one facing up) provides support, companionship, and guardianship to the other. This pairing of Manaias represents relationship and the strength that shared within that relationship.
